Anyone who saw the Uganda premier league table a month or two months back would surely have written Express off the title. The red eagles were not expected to mount up a serious title challenge.

The race was expected to be tight between URA and Vipers who had been exchanging first and second position. However as of now all these two teams lie behind Express with just four games to go. Express lies on 58 points, URA 57 and Vipers on 56 points.

The Wankulukuku based side has been in scintillating form of recent winning game in game out.

The team under coach Waswa Bbosa has had some top performers especially Eric Kambale. The talisman has racked up 16 league goals this season and is a joint top scorer with Yunus Sentamu.

However, Express’ back like cannot go without mention because they have been solid. The team has conceded just six goals in the last 10 games while scoring 18 times.

Cranes player Murushid Juuko has been part of this strong wall and spoke of what the team has to do in the remaining games.

“The journey so far has been nothing short of hard work, self-belief, and having the right mental strength,”

Juuko said while on the club’s website.

Juuko added that he had belief in his teammates to finish off the job.

“The boys have left everything on the pitch in all the games and they know it’s not done yet but if we keep that spirit we’re definitely going to give it a shot in both competitions that we’re in (league and cup)”

Express will return to league action in June against Wakiso Giants. They will then play against BUL, Myda and play their last game against eternal rivals KCCA.
