2023 USSSA football qualifiers (Jinja district)

Jinja Secondary School 1 (2) – 1 (4)Jinja Progressive Academy.

In an amazing final where JIPRA defeated Jinja SS in penalties 2-4 following their 1-1 draw in normal time, Tear gas over shadowed to cool fans who had even started Stoning.

The two sworn Jinja rivals Jinja SS and JIPRA played their final on Monday, April 3rd at Kakindu stadium.

At Kakindu with hundred of fans that attended, James Jarieko gave JIPRA an early lead with a brilliant header thanks to Richard Okello’s good cross.

Reagan Isabirye equalised matters for Jinja SS in the 60th minute.

After equalised, JIPRA appeared a better side with Jarieko hitting a cross bar.

JIPRA were also denied a penalty kick after Richard Okello was fouled by Sulaiman Katotime.

After a 1-1 draw in the normal, Penalties had to decide the winner, JIPRA’s goalkeeper Adrian Isabirye appeared a hero with two penalty saves.

He saved Icon Jordon and Churchhill Ochan’s shoots.

Lookman Lwanga, Sowedi Lwenda, Sudice Ngobi and Jarieko scored the 4 penalties for JIPRA.

The two schools qualified for the nationals that are to be there in may in fort Portal.

But before nationals, they will have to first play regionals hosted in Iganga in April.
